Classic staples every girl must have.
Have you ever wondered why your wardrobe is bursting out of its seams, yet you can’t find a nice outfit to wear? Most girls, including myself have this common problem. So many clothes yet there’s nothing to wear.
Well, I’ve narrowed down my wardrobe (junk) to give you the top FIVE must haves for every lady.
Thing’s every girl must have in her wardrobe.
1.       A good pair of jeans: make sure you buy your correct size. Your jeans should flatter your body.
2.       A classic pencil skirt: you can style it up to look casual or formal
3.        A blazer: There are a lot of different ways to wear a blazer. Just like the pencil skirt, a blazer can be worn to look either formal or casual. Style up your dressing by adding a nice fitted blazer or a boyfriend fit blazer to it.
4.       The LBD: Every girl needs a little black dress in her wardrobe. Your black dress doesn’t always have to look plain and boring. Add some accessories to glam up your dressing.
5.        A white top (White-tee): Can be worn with absolutely anything. Wear them with leggings, skirts, jeans, khaki pants, high waisted, low waisted, you just name it. It’s a classic piece that should be in every girl’s wardrobe.
I was tempted to list more than five key wardrobe items, by adding a maxi sundress and leggings but really, we do don’t need a whole lot of clothes to be fashionable. Feel free to add your ideas and give suggestions.
Also let me know the things you cannot live without having in your wardrobe.

Block the Colours not my Eyes!!

The new trend of colour blocking is fast rising amongst fashion trends. However, some people get it totally WRONG. Please ladies, colour blocking does not mean piling up every colour you can find in your closet and wearing them all at the same time if you are not a clown going for a children’s party.
To get the colour block trend right, you have to know what colours complement each other and how to mix and match these colours. The colour will below should help you identify what colours go well together.

Using the Colour wheel
Analogous colours: Use any of the colours lined up next to each other on the colour wheel. For example; blue, blue green and green would go perfectly when colour blocked
Complimentary colours: Colours placed directly opposite to each other on the colour wheel are perfect for colour blocking your outfits.
90 degree angles: A combination of colours that are at right angle with each other on the wheel.
T- Colours: These are colours that form ‘T’shape on the colour wheel, like; yellow, purple and orange red.
Jewel colours: such as emerald green and ruby red are rich colours and they flatter each other when worn together.
Make sure you keep your colours in the same saturation. That is, neons with neons and pastels with pastels
Sometimes pink can be substituted for red with all the same combinations. Don’t worry it’ll look good.

Go Ahead and Stripe!!!

Not all striped outfits make you look funny or fat!!
There are three different kinds of stripes. They are; vertical stripes, horizontal stripes and diagonal stripes.
Horizontal stripes:  If you are tall with a slim body frame, then going for horizontal stripes would be your best bet, as it would give a little more width to your body and help accentuate your curves.

Vertical stripes: Are suitable for people who are shorter and a little more round. Wearing a vertical striped outfit will automatically give you more height. Vertical stripes elongate the body.
Diagonal stripes: Are regarded as the most flattering of all stripes, as they are ideal for all body shapes. They enhance your curves and give you the curvy hour glass shape look we talked about in the first post.

Be bold, try wearing stripes. They are in vogue this summer and they really look nice.

Don't run away from White shoes

Most people hate wearing white shoes because it can be very difficult to maintain and keep clean but yet some love it because it just makes you look that much classier and cleaner. ‘All white erthing’.
Luckily, I’m here to give you a few tips on how to keep your white shoes sparkling white, even after treading the muddy streets.
One thing you should never ever do is put your shoes in the washing machine. Especially because you think they’re made of clothing fabric. For example, Toms or Vans, unless of course, if you want to say goodbye to them forever.
Things you’ll need
1.       A bowl of water
2.       Some baking soda
3.       A clean, empty bowl to make the mixture
4.       Your old toothbrush
5.       And a spoon
Pour some of the baking powder into the empty container and add a little water. Make sure the mixture isn’t too thin or too thick. It should be somewhere in between. Turn with the spoon until the mixture is smooth.
Dip the toothbrush into the baking soda mixture and brush the mixture all over the shoe until it is covered.
Leave the shoes outside in the sun to dry for about an hour or maybe 30 minutes if it’s a really sunny day. When the shoes are dry, dust off the dried baking soda and Tadda!!!! Your shoes come out as white as snow.

Colours That Suit Your Skin

A lot of you don’t realise that it’s the wrong colour not the wrong outfit. The colours you wear, should compliment your skin tone. Jazmin Whitley, designer of Li Cari label says “there are three major types of skin tones, the dark, fair and olive/medium skin colour” she also gives advice on the colours of clothes to avoid depending on your skin tone.

Dark skinned ladies should avoid having too much brown, black or orange in their outfits. Instead, trying going for lighter shades like plum, lavender or pastel colours. Soft neutrals would also go well with your dark skin.

Fair skinned girls should avoid wearing colours like white, gold or pastels and go for darker colours like black, grey and red, which would compliment their skin tone better.

Medium/olive skinned ladies must avoid wearing clothes with too much golden under tones like caramel, orange and brown and go for colours like pink, red and blue tones.

I guess you get the jig now. Always try contrasting the colour of your skin with the colour of your outfit. Dark skin colour should be contrasted with brighter, eye-catching colours. Do not wash out light skin. If you are light skinned, stand out with stronger colours. With medium skin, always avoid the middle of the road and go either bright or dark with your clothes.

Stay true to your colour!!

Dress To Suit YOU!

We all know that everything comes in different shapes and sizes. And yes that includes the human body *surprise surprise* LOL. But on a serious note, it is very surprising that even in this day and age, with the advent of uncountable fashion awareness shows like Gok’s fashion fix, what not to wear and the likes women still find it incredibly difficult to get clothes that suit their body shape. Or should I say most women do not even have a clue as to what shape they are even as they look into the mirror every day. Come on girls, it’s really not that difficult to discover what shape you are.
Well, I’m here to help ease your stress with finding your perfect fit. So let’s put a smile on your face nowJ.
Two of Britain’s most popular fashion advisors, presenters and authors, Trinny Woodhall and Susannah Constantine have identified 12 different human body shapes in their new book titled ‘The body shape bible’. In addition to the basic apple, pear and hourglass shapes that most of us have heard about. These two fashion icons have added the skittle, vase cornet, lollipop, column, bell, goblet, cello and brick shapes. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-488236/Trinny-Susannah-reveal-12-womens-body-types--you.html
Don’t get all confused now. I’ll take some time out to explain the body shapes in which most women fit into.
Apple: Women with this body shape tend to carry more weight around the mid section of their bodies and do not have a well defined waist. However, most of you have fabulous legs and/boobs so instead of covering up all your goodies, concentrate on showing off the best bits by wearing empire line and longer length tops. These will flatter your figure and take all the attention off your waist and draw people’s attention upwards.
Avoid short, box shaped jackets and pleated skirts. They wouldn’t do you justice.
Pear:  These women are bottom heavy and bigger around the hips, thighs or bottom and smaller at the top. Try balancing out your curvy bottom half with bold bight coloured tops or shirts with large collars, sleeves or lapels. Make sure you avoid wearing pencil, tube and fishtail skirts as these will only emphasise your hips and bum, especially if they are tight fitted.

Hour glass: Curvy hour glass women posses full bust and bottom and go in smaller in the middle with smaller waist. Remember not to drown your sexy shape in too baggy clothes. Wear wrap dresses, waist cinching belts and flared trousers/jeans to flatter your shape. Shapeless baggy jumpers are a complete NO NO.
Rectangle: these are ladies that are fairly straight up and down. This doesn’t necessarily mean they have boyish chest as some of them don’t. There is no main area you need to minimise on your body so you can get away with more things than most. However, you may crave more curves so try wearing a structured coat that cinches in with a belt. If you have small bust, you can get away with tricky to wear high necked tops.
Avoid low rise trousers that make your torso look longer and try not to wear sheath dresses, instead wear dresses with more shape.
